Wireless fermentation controller

Temperature and pressure, held steady for every batch.

Click. Brew. Cheers!

BrewSpider switches your heater and fridge through wireless smart plugs, holds pressure with a built-in spunding valve, reads floating sensors like the iSpindel, and keeps working when the Wi-Fi doesn't.

BrewSpider reads the temperature and pressure in your fermenter and decides, on the device itself, when to heat, cool or vent. Only the parts on the fermenter have cables, and they run on 12 V. The heater, the fridge and the floating sensor connect without wires.

Temperature control

Heats and cools to your target through two wireless smart plugs, with a rest period that protects the fridge compressor. Choose the wired probe or a floating sensor like the iSpindel; the other one is the backup.

Pressure control

A built-in spunding valve: set a target and BrewSpider vents in short pulses to hold it, for naturally carbonated beer straight from the fermenter. Near your vessel's maximum it vents regardless.

Keeps working offline

All control runs on the device. If your Wi-Fi or internet drops, BrewSpider keeps regulating, stores its readings and sends them once it is back online.

The BrewSpider app

Every batch, live on your phone.

Live readings, targets and a zoomable trend chart on Android, or in any web browser. iOS is on the way.

Batches you can look back on
Each fermentation keeps its readings and events. Export any batch as CSV.
Manual mode
Take over the heater, fridge and valve by hand when you need to.
Your own gauge as reference
Calibrate the pressure sensor against the gauge you trust.
Safe updates
New firmware installs from the app, never mid-batch unless you say so.

How it works

From unboxing to your first batch

  1. Fit it to your fermenter

Fit the temperature probe, pressure sensor and valve. Plug your heater and fridge into the wireless smart plugs.

  2. Scan the label

In the app, choose Pair with QR code, hold the button for 5 seconds and pick your Wi-Fi. The app does the rest over Bluetooth.

  3. Set your targets

Enter the temperature and pressure you want. Brewing starts as a new batch, named however you like.

Already plan your brews somewhere else?

Connect your brewing app in the BrewSpider app: copy the link your brewing app gives you and paste it in. From then on our server sends it your readings (temperature, pressure, gravity and iSpindel battery) on its own, so your brew log fills itself.

How to connect each app

Who makes it

Built by engineers and brewers.

We design the electronics, the firmware and the app ourselves, with safety first: the device keeps your brew under control even when the internet doesn't.

Questions brewers ask

What happens if I lose the internet connection?

BrewSpider keeps regulating temperature and pressure with your last targets, because control runs on the device itself. It stores its readings and sends them once the connection is back (about 12 hours of readings at normal rates). Until then you can't follow it or change targets in the app.

What is wired and what is wireless?

Only the parts on the fermenter are wired: the temperature probe, the pressure sensor and the vent valve, all on 12 V. The heater and the fridge plug into two smart plugs that BrewSpider switches without cables, and a floating sensor like the iSpindel sends its readings over Wi-Fi. No mains cable goes to the controller.

How do the heater and the fridge get switched?

Plug the heater into the heating smart plug and the fridge into the cooling one. BrewSpider decides when each should be on and switches its plug, and gives the fridge a rest between starts to protect the compressor. If you only heat or only cool, use just one plug.

What happens if a sensor or the power drops?

If the floating sensor stops reporting, it switches to the wired probe. If the pressure sensor fails, it closes the valve and raises an alarm. In a power cut everything switches off and the valve stays closed; when power returns it carries on with your saved targets.

Which fermenters can use pressure control?

A fermenter rated for the pressure you want, with a mechanical pressure relief valve and a free gas connection. You enter your vessel's maximum pressure (up to 2.4 bar), and BrewSpider vents before it gets there.

Do I need a floating sensor like the iSpindel?

No. The wired probe is enough for temperature control. A floating sensor adds gravity and battery readings, and can be the main temperature sensor, with the wired probe as its backup.

What do I need at home?

A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and an Android phone or any web browser for the app. The iPhone app is on the way.

When can I buy one?
